Agriculture

The Agriculture sector comprises emissions from Agriculture Practices which includes emissions from Rice Cultivation, Biomass burning in Cropland, Agriculture Soils and Livestock subsectors.

Inventory assessments rigorously adhered to IPCC methodology and guidelines (IPCC, 2006; IPCC, 2019), and are largely based on IPCC’s Tier 1 and Tier 2 methods of emissions estimation. The emission factors assumed for various categories of emissions are by and large taken from Government of India’s inventory submissions to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the absence of country-specific data, default emission factors (Tier 1) were applied.

Activity data has been sourced from Livestock Census of India, Agriculture Statistics, Department of Economics and Statistics, Kerala, Directorate of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare, Kerala, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, and GHG Platform India.
