Energy
The assessments for the inventorization have rigorously followed the IPCC methodology and guidelines (IPCC, 2006 ; IPCC 2019). A mixed approach of Tier 1 and Tier 2 were used for estimating emissions from the Energy sector. T1 uses an IPCC default value, whereas T2 uses country specific emission factors provided by the Government of India’s National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The activity data sources used for estimating emissions were the General Review reports of the Central Electricity Authority, statistical publications from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, a study report by Centre for Development Studies, Kerala- Energy Efficiency: A Sectoral Analysis for Kerala, studies on state-wide sectoral demand of Diesel and Petrol from Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell (PPAC), etc.
Activity data reported in Financial Years were converted to Calendar Year for emissions estimation.
