Industrial Processes and Product Use (IPPU)

The IPPU sector comprises emissions from Mineral, Metal, Chemical industries and Non Energy Products from Fuels and Solvent Use.

Inventory assessments rigorously adhered to IPCC methodology and guidelines (IPCC, 2006; IPCC, 2019), and are largely based on IPCC’s Tier 1 methods of emissions estimation. The emission factors assumed for various categories of emissions are by and large taken from Government of India’s inventory submissions to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

In the absence of country-specific data, default emission factors (Tier 1) were applied Activity data sources for IPPU sector emissions estimates were largely from Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), Indian Minerals Yearbook, Annual reports and Indian petroleum and Natural Gas Statistics, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas ( MoPNG).
