Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF)

The LULUCF sector comprises removals/emissions from sub-sectors namely Forest Land, Biomass Burning in Forest Land, Cropland, Grassland, Settlements, and Other Land.

Activity data for removals/emissions calculations has been collected from India State of Forest Reports and Carbon Report by Forest Survey of India, Envistats Reports, and Kerala Forest Department. The LULUCF sector removals/emission estimations follow the detailed methodology as per IPCC Guidelines (IPCC, 2006).

The emissions from this category have been estimated largely using a Tier 2 approach, using country-specific emission factors, wherever available.
